Start with a circle as the foundation for your building blocks.
Now add two triangular shapes for the snout and ears.
Add a neck and centre lines for the eyes and nose.
Work on your final drawing and remember, don't just trace your guides.
There's so many different breeds of dogs with completely different proportions, but the basic building blocks are the same, whether you're drawing an Alsatian or a French Bulldog. Just change the side and shape of your building blocks.
Now let's draw the body. Start with the head. Draw a peanut shape for the body.
Use connected ovals to build up the legs, remembering the hind legs bend inwards.
When drawing different breeds, keep your building blocks the same, just change the proportions. So a Westie has a rounder body and shorter legs, a French Bulldog has a larger head and a Sausage Dog has tiny legs and a really long body.
